Derby to Bo'ness

We had a slow start to the morning so we decided to stay at home and spend time with the family. The Coles had stayed the night and I found Craig and Seth playing downstairs. I felt sorry for Craig as he had only had 3 hours sleep. Layla joined us and we cranked up the Wii. I had a not-so-quiet chuckle to myself when Layla and Craig had a go at boxing and Craig was knocked out! I promised to never breathe a word of it to anyone… Will and Seth had a good run around in the garden before breakfast and had heaps of fun playing together. We had our breakfast and said our farewells to the Coles. Will was sad to say goodbye to Layla and Seth.

Lou gave me a quick haircut before Lou and Lynn popped off to Sainsbury’s to get some pizzas for lunch. I suggested that Pete, Will and I go for a walk around Darley Abbey and take some photos. We walked down by the river Derwent and watched the rowers on the water. We followed the river around to the old cotton mill and then walked back up to St Matthew’s church. Will had fallen asleep in his pram so we carried on to the Broadway and had a pint of Deuchars (good Scottish beer).

When we got back to Pete and Lynn’s, Lou and Lynn had arrived back from the supermarket and Rob and Lucy had shown up. We had a nice big lunch of pizza, mozzarella cheese slices and salads – the perfect send off for our journey to Scotland. After lunch, we all headed of to the airport. We checked our bags in and narrowly avoided an excess baggage charge. We said a sad farewell to our Derby family and boarded our BMIBaby plane bound for Edinburgh.

After landing, we caught a bus to Europcar, picked up our rental car and attempted to make our way to Bo’ness. After a while we discovered that we were going down the Edinburgh ring road the wrong way. We carried on a bit and before long we found a roundabout and we were finally going the right way.

Once we were on the M9, I remembered where we were and we made it straight to Isobel’s door in Bo'ness. The weather had packed in and it was raining fairly heavily as we stood at the door. She welcomed us in and after putting Will down to sleep we had a nice evening chatting and watching Still Game on television.
